How do You really make a successful transition form Day Job or the typical 9-5 job to working from home and making a REAL living?

There is probably more junk written about this topic than any other, besides maybe weight loss and those related topics. But that certainly doesn’t mean there isn’t better ways to make the transition from working a 9-5 day job to building a successful and real business from home.

What Do You Do First?

Great question! and many people will be at various stages of trying to break free from the rat race and I’m sure the majority who have tried to give up their day job are more than likely struggling to make any sort of decent income online.

Here’s where I believe my approach is a little different than many people who try to teach others to make money online and finally get that lifestyle most of us want.

It’s NOT the tactics and sneaky marketing tricks that will really create success for you, no matter how many e-books, home study courses and webinars you buy, attend or subscribe to, if you don’t get some basic fundamentals right from the ouset, you will struggle for a long time….period!

"The one thing that virtually all Internet marketing teachers leave out or just plain don’t know about is how your personality type affects how you work, what will work for you and what type of online business model has the highest chance of success!"

One of the best pre-headlines I’ve seen is "People Don’t Work, Systems Work"!

That is so true and that brings me to the reason I have written this; over the last 6 weeks I’ve been conducting a number of marketing tests from scratch to see if I can create a simple system that anyone can learn to use quickly to start building some online sales and traffic.

Stick with me here, this is not something I’m selling or any course that is being launched or anything like that.

The reason I have gone back to basics to build some online sales (notice I’m not saying online business- a business is much more than making a few internet sales), is to really explore the challenges of getting online TODAY and creating a Long-Term Successful Business, with 90%+ of people who try to make money online fail and the fact that there are so many ways to make a profit, I am determined to find some of the key fundamentals that stop people from being profitable online.

Part of The Answer Lies in The Enshin Martial Arts Methodology

Having trained in the style of Enshin Karate and being a professional musician; there are some very common traits between the two. For example in Enshin Karate the whole first half of the class is all ways spent on perfecting the basics and fundamentals, even when the top Masters visited from Japan they too spent the majority of practice time on the basics and fundamentals.

This is exactly the same when studying music to a high level, every single day when I was preparing for music exams or major performances a good majority of the practice time was spent on scales and fundamentals exactly like the karate class.

This is one of the major reasons that I see so many people struggling to make any money online, and to build any sort of reasonable business that has the potential to sustain you and the family into the future. The fact that the marketplace is flooded with how-to guides on every conceivable way to make a profit on the Internet, there is no wonder that people are so confused about which way to go and what to do and how to do it, that it is completely polarising.

I’m certainly not saying that I have any type of magic bullet or that you’re going to make some ridiculous amount of money that I know so many people love to hear, like making $2 million in 8.6 seconds(insert cynical snicker) in my opinion does much more harm than good. If you have experience online then you know that making that sort of money takes a lot of time and energy and in reality is most likely the result of years of work, no different to recording a song that only takes a day to record and makes a fortune, but of course the ability to play like that took years of practice, not a day!

Understanding the importance of Personality Types and Marketing Online

If you’ve ever gone through one of the personality type identifiers then you’ll know that there are four main dominant personality types, such as Director, Socializer,  Analyzer and Compliant. This is a pretty basic overview of course but I cannot stress just how important it is for you to understand your personality type and how that applies to the many different methods and strategies of marketing online.

For example;

If you are a director type personality, which means Direct. Decisive. High Ego Strength. Problem Solver. Risk Taker. Self Starter, I can tell you for a fact that you will have a real struggle trying to sit down day in day out and market products and services using the typical Web 2.0 strategies of relentless bookmarking, social commenting and many other tedious time-consuming tasks.

This doesn’t mean that you don’t do it in your business, but what it does mean is that you must outsource this and get someone else to do these tasks or you will not stick at it long enough and solid enough to make it work. What happens in this case( and I can vouch for this from experience), is you go hard at it for a day or two, get sick of it, then jump back to Google Adwords or some other traffic method and so the bouncing around from one strategy to another begins.

I’m going to wrap it up here, but I will put together a video today and go over some of these basics to get the momentum going and show you exactly what I’ve been doing and how I’ve been doing it. Now it’s certainly not for everybody and neither is any other single online marketing method. But without the basics well and truly in place I can guarantee you’ll be building a house on sand.

I thought I would come straight out and ask you!

What do you really want to learn about internet marketing?

Let’s face it, many blogs and marketing pieces are good but they are far too often stand alone with one bit size concept all by itself, there is very little flow and momentum created since you don’t get enough information to whatever the tips or strategy is about!

I realize so many of you want different tools and tips for Adwords to Twitter and everything in between…

Problem is if I simply carve out the latest and greatest tips and strategies on every subject I can then some people will get confused and do the classic “Internet Marketing Dance” i.e. hop from one idea to another before the first one has had a chance to work! ….. sound familiar?

Here’s my idea..

I’ll set up a questionnaire or poll and you can tell me what you want to know… simple!

Of course I can’t answer everything individually, but I will focus on the most popular topics, for example if you want lots on How to Sell with Video Marketing then I’ll do a big step-by-step guide that gives a flow and logical progression to follow.

So what’s a real internet business?

Well I guess it’s like any business, the definition of which is “A profitable enterprise that works without me”!

How many of you really have profitable enterprise that works without you?

I would venture to say not many! Let’s face it… the internet is one place you can start a blog, throw up some Adsense and declare “I have an online business”

What a load of crap that is, that’s like my kids saying they have a real business because they have a paper round!

Sorry for the harsh reality check but let’s face it, a real business is what many people are after but are not willing to set up their internet venture with proper planning.

Imagine walking into the bank and handing them the current details of your internet business as a plan that you wish to loan against for growing the business etc…. huh … they’d laugh.

Now of course this is not everyone at all, but most so called internet business I see are like this.

There is hope and you can apply proper business practice and planning to create a real enterprise, and that doesn’t mean with a real enterprise you have to start hiring real people etc… not at all, all I mean is you conduct your business like a real enterprise.

It all starts with the PLAN… without it you may as well be in a dark room with a blindfold on, stumbling around from one task to the next…. hey I know it sounds familiar and that was me for 2 years online so I know what it’s all about, and how to go about changing it.

First step in any change is awareness, and then we can begin to form new habits… sound good?

Next installment we will begin the turn around process, it works very very well and it’s the exact method I used to transform a opportunity hopper like me into a focused productive business owner and the same things I used to help property investors turn around their investing results.

Bottom line is … this works for anything you will ever do!

Google Goggles Big Test!

Well I hate to say I told you so, but no sooner had I written the post about Google Goggles the ripping new Software that tells you how good your Google Adwords Campaigns are before you launch them.

Two of my top campaigns were all of a sudden given a little backhander from the mighty BIG G!

Admittedly I set those two campaigns up and just let them run…. and they were converting nicely and making good profits.

In the process of doing the daily Adwords assessment, shock! Horror! Adwords campaign 6 and campaign 9 were sporting a Google hand print on their face… Ouch!

Not to be put off by this since you have to have a thick skin sometimes, Ah Ha I thought …. Google Goggles to the rescue, let’s see how good this baby is!

So I ran all my campaign data through and hey presto…. Googel Goggles returned a POOR quality score on some of my best keywords.

I ran a check on the critical components and bingo some of my links had gone inactive so there was no content as far as Goggle could see… no wonder.

Thankfully all I needed was a quick overhaul of the links and content, ran the Google Goggles test and bingo! …..Great quality score

A quick message to Google and thanks for coming….cheap clicks once again….thank you Goggles.

Seriously if you haven’t got the Goggles yet you are risking blowing up your Adwords costs and fumbling around in the dark trying to fix it, it’s a no brainer and I only say that about 5 – 6 programs that I cannot live without.

Pay Per Click and Google Adwords Marketing is such a brilliant traffic source and you CAN make great profits IF YOU DO IT RIGHT!

I keep hearing so many marketers constantly saying "Adwords is too expensive now and PPC is too competitive to make much money now"!

Absolute BS!

The only reason anyone says that is they DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO IT PROPERLY!

Most of my campaigns are running at the same or less Cost Per Click that they were 2 years ago!

Google Slap?

What Google Slap I say, if you have all the elements in place that Google want then you WILL be rewarded….

Well now that job has just become so much easier that by using the new Google Goggles your competition is going to get slapped by YOU!

Google Goggles, is the name and Great Quality score is the game.

Basically what Amish and Larry (the guys from Hexatrack, software that monitors PPC campaigns and spies on the competition….great program and I use it all the time) have developed is an application that supposedly goes out before you submit your site to Google Adwords and checks your campaign quality.

What it does is it acts like Google would do exploring your ad to landing page and keyword relevancy. It also should check whether you have some of the essential pages Google loves to see when you start your Adwords campaign.

If you’ve been doing PPC (pay-per-click) advertising for any amount of time in the past year or so, you know that Google is looking for a multi-page review landing page site. You know that there are some critical elements, such as:

1. Keyword relevancy to landing page content.

2. Important links to pages such as contact, Privacy etc.

3. Some quality content such as a few articles on your topic.

Google Goggles is not totally revolutionary, but it makes the task of creating a high quality Adwords campaign so much easier and fast.

Like Hexatrack which tells you the most profitable keywords to use and bid on, Google Goggles WILL save you money and time and bring back the old days of PPC with Adwords…. Cheap Clicks are back!

The Bottom line is I will NEVER set up an Adwords campaign again without using Google Goggles first to check my quality…… EVER!

I hate using the title “work from home business opportunities” because that’s the typical make money online scams that are littered everywhere, but it is the best description and phrase that fits.

Have you noticed how many businesses are laying off workers now?

Just this week there has been several companies announcing 15, 20% reduction in staff and workers.

No doubt it’s scary if you rely on your job to be around for the future because there are no guarantees now days, and if you’re not making yourself more valuable by increasing your skills then you are crazy!

Having run internet businesses now for the last few years I can tell you that it is going to save a lot of peoples bacon! Instead of stressing out trying to find a new job and being at the mercy of the job market, you can create a full time income and lifestyle that so many people dream about.

Many of my friends would say “isn’t that risky starting your own business online”? and it was a few years ago because the education and quality information on how to start a successful internet business just wasn’t there, you literally had to work it out for yourself.

Now the challenge is what to do?

There are literally dozens of ways to make great money online IF you have the right plan along with the right system, AND you follow it working on your plan every day and remove the distractions, (I’ve got some great tips for you on this).

I see so many internet marketers start with total enthusiasm then lose focus, jump around from one internet marketing system to another.

What I will endeavor to do is address the underlying fundamentals that cause people to not achieve the success they wish to. Unfortunately the numbers don’t lie and no matter what life enhancing program people do, 90% will not take any action, 5% will make a start, 3% will give it a good go and only 2% will rip it for all it’s worth.

The question is which one will you be?

Ah Habits! they can be a wonderful thing and at the same time, the biggest destroyer of success! We are all creatures of habit and if those habits are NOT Internet Marketing friendly then you will struggle big time.

The distractions online are unbelievable, trying to focus and get things done takes real discipline and that is what i am going to focus on and help you do.

The great thing is there are ABSOLUTE fundamentals that always remain the same, and if you follow and stick to those every day then you will enjoy amazing success and an incredible lifestyle.

Just think, all you will need is a laptop and you can run your business anywhere in the world!

Make sure you start learning the critical fundamentals NOW and PLAN your online business before jumping in with any old make money online opportunity.

If you hate making talking head videos, you know the ones where you use your camcorder or webcam to record of yourself making a presentation

Well you’re in luck because I’ve been getting amazing results from web video marketing and general internet video using funky slide shows that are converting nicely.

Here is an example of one I did for a Dentist to promote their practice..

This video took me 20 minutes to make so there is no excuse for not creating lots of good promo videos for your products and offers.

Oh and by the way using some of the new killer Web video marketing strategies it was number 1 and 2 on Google within 2 hours!

Do you use Mac or PC? or for that matter both!

I must admit I was a long time PC user but have been converted somewhat to Mac in the last 6 months.

Being a full time Internet marketer and running other businesses it’s great to have both, but I say converted to Mac somewhat because it ain’t everything the Mac ads will have you believe! ….

It crashes overheats, and runs out of battery real quick sometimes, apart from that the Macbook pro is brilliant for Multimedia and particularly Multimedia marketing online, podcasts, video etc.

If you’re doing web video marketing (you would be crazy not to) then the Mac does make it pretty breazy.

Screenflow is a ripper screen capture program that is magic and will be even better with drag and drop transitions but the cool video window and slick interface is a beautiful thing.

If you wanted to only use the Mac for internet marketing the problem is most internet marketing software is PC only but you can simply use Parallel for Windows which lets you run all your PC programs in a window on the Mac….. many would say best of both worlds.
